News 2009 WEEK 51 (Sunday, December 9)
A FUN AND BUSY AUTUMN The
hours of the day have become shorter than ever since I became a mother, but
increasingly exciting as well. We expected the summer of 2009 to be filled
with quiet days at home, barbecuing and getting a tan in the garden. However,
the gas barbecue is still standing unused outside while we’re left with
unforgettable memories from an active summer together with little Bjørnar.
WEEK 39 (Tuesday 22.09.2009) FANTASTIC EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIP GOLD MEDAL FOR MOM
It was an amazing experience to become European Champion again, and this time
as the mother of little Bjørnar. This victory enters my collection as
something completely unique, and is impossible to compare with any of my
other achievements as a cyclist. WEEK 36 (Monday, August 31, 2009)
NATIONWIDE CELEBRATIONS ON TWO WHEELS
From a reasonably solitary bike ride in the mountains last weekend, to
mud-wrestling amongst thousands of cycling enthusiasts in this year’s
Birkerbeinerritt bike race. My participation in the Marathon World
Championships race and the Birkerbeinerrittet, with only six days between
each event, was a mixed experience, full of contrasts. Cycling is and will
remain an experience-oriented sport at a high level. WEEK 34 (Tuesday, August 18, 2009):
ROLLING MILK BAR
A few weeks ago my family cheered me across the finish line as I became the
Norwegian national cycling champion. A good week ago I completed my first
circuit race in Bern, and now it’s time for the mountain bike marathon World
Championships. Even though
breast-feeding restricts the amount of sleep and rest I can get, I’m
managing pretty well despite it all.
WEEK 27 (Thursday July 2, 2009) ”CHAMPION” AT THE GUNN-RITA MARATHON
The experience of becoming ”Italian champion” in the marathon distance at my
very first race after the birth of my baby, was completely unforgettable.
The most exciting part was once again to be racing in rough and demanding
terrain.
WEEK 25 (Thursday, June 18, 2009) CYCLING ENTHUSIASM AT HOME
Last Saturday the local off road bike race, Nordsjørittet, was held, and the
interest and enthusiasm for the race has probably never been greater in this
district. A good 7000 cyclists started and completed the 91 kilometre race
from Egersund to Sandnes. It was wonderful for us to be at home and
experience this race after so many years out travelling.
WEEK 21 (Wednesday, May 20, 2009) OUR NEW LIFE Our little prince, Bjørnar, has already become two months old. Our new existence with a little baby in the house has provided us with experiences and joys on a completely different level than ever before, and cannot be compared with anything else. Careful planning and effectiveness have attained a new meaning.
MONTELLO GUNN-RITA MARATHON FANTASTIC CYCLING EXPERIENCE
Two months without a bike is not what I’m used to, and it certainly doesn’t
feel right. I feel a tingling sensation in my body and legs each time
Kenneth comes home from long bike rides and tells me about all he’s
experienced, and all the excess energy and well-being it’s given him in both
body and soul. Soon it’ll be my turn again, and I really hope that one of my
first great cycling experiences will be a trip to Italy at the end of June!
Our new little addition to the family is calling the shots through the
summer, but I really hope to take part in Gunn-Rita Marathon this summer

WEEK 11 (Thursday, March 12, 2009) JUST ABOUT READY TO POP
One week remains before my due-date and the tension is increasing daily. My
belly is hard as a rock and sometimes feels like it’s going to explode. I go
for walks every day and still swim 2-3 times a week. I’m not in any kind of
pain, so it wouldn’t be right to just sit at home and wait.
WEEK 8 (Sunday, February 22, 2009) ”GRAND” DAYS AT HOME
Week by week my belly keeps growing, and I adjust my level of physical
activity accordingly. I only have one more month of the pregnancy and I aim
to enjoy it to the full. So far, being pregnant has been a fantastic
experience, and we’re looking so much forward to saying hello to the little
fellow in a few weeks from now.
Week 2 (Thursday, January 8, 2009) HAPPY NEW EXERCISING YEAR!
The Christmas steak is finished and the presents have all been opened. It’s
been lovely for us to take part in a more “normal” form of Christmas
celebration this year. Now we’re looking forward to an exciting and
action-packed New Year, both on and off our bikes.
